I'm Trish Brazil and This is My Story.

I grew up in a low-income family as the middle child of five. At 15, I became pregnant and left high school, but with the encouragement of a wonderful school counselor, I earned my GED and began building a life for myself and my two children.

That first opportunity led to a career at Safeway, where I rose through management to become the first female Safeway District Manager west of the Mississippi, overseeing 16 stores and earning District Manager of the Year for the San Francisco Division.

My love of learning eventually brought me back to school. Over the next decade, I earned a degree from UC Davis, a doctorate in clinical psychology, completed a neuropsychology residency, became chief resident and assistant professor, and opened my own private practice—all while raising two children as a single mom.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, I chose a new path in real estate. I became a principal broker, opened my own company, Brazil Homes, LLC, and spent 13 years buying and remodeling homes.

Today, I’m passionate about dog rescue and animal welfare. Through Stitch in Time Dog Rescue (STAR), I run a spay and neuter program helping make these services more accessible to local families. I’m also a Master Gardener and love spending time in my garden.

Now, I’m ready for a new chapter. I love Concord, and I want to put my experience, energy, and commitment to work for the community I call home.

There are people, places, and experiences that have shaped who I am today. From time spent with my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, great-grandson, best friend, and extended family, to giving back to the community, these moments reflect what matters most to me: family, community, service, and a lifelong love of animals. I’m proud to share some of those moments with you below.

• ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) — Volunteer before it became Joybound.
• Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) — Fostered dogs in need.
• Contra Costa SPCA — Former board member.
• STAR — Former board member and current volunteer.
• Hurricane Katrina Relief — Recruited by FEMA to travel to New Orleans and provide psychological support to survivors following Hurricane Katrina. Helping people navigate the aftermath and devastation was an experience she will never forget.
